Welcome aboard jason! gspm: it's my understanding that if you can't attend a live draft, it will be run according to your pre-ranks. Someone more knowledgeable can correct if I'm wrong. I chose a Live Draft because I like the excitement and chit-chattyness. As I say in the league's message board: "About the draft: the only slots left were in the early AM/AM Pacific time. You'll have to draft while at work. I took the latest slot possible, to allow people who can't attend the draft to do a good pre-rank. The league settings are all negotiable." For example, I've limited the number of managers to 15 because it's a two-goalies-per-team league, but I could crank up the manager number, and turn it to 1-goalie-per-team. I stole the "Yahoo blows" schtick from the football people. I have no personal beef about them. Total disclosure: I have only one year of Fantasy sports experience, and this would be my first turn as commissioner. Read about my commissioner philosophy here. Thanks, and see you soon!

"live draft is in the morning" which is something I read at being the morning of the day after the post - ie Sept 15th. yes, not the case then. draft is over three weeks away. i am in. and have the possible advantage that where I am the draft is not in the morning but after work.

I'm in as well. Though I don't know much about hockey. Lack of knowledge didn't keep me from the Premiership so screw it!

Hey, thanks to everyone who showed up! We're up to 13 players, that's a good turnaround. I've upped the max number of teams to 18, just in case we get a flurry of signups. We need more people coming in with the "You're going down!" attitude instead of the "I know little of hockey", trying to look innocent, angel face. We know you're all after Grum's trophy. Let's go get him! Don't forget that we can also discuss which categories we'd like to use. Please do so on the league message board. Thanks!

I think you all forgot that a proper Fantasy league is dominated by its commissionner. I fully intend to uphold this tradition. In the meantime, grum@work's advice about the perfect categories selection is requested, either here or on the league message board. Grum?

I'm in again this year (after coming oh-so-close to finishing second last year). I was looking for the sidebar mention too as I don't check the locker room on a regular basis. <trash talk>so grum, how soon are you going to want to dump Belfour *this* year?</trash talk> ;)

live draft? if there is a way to avoid that I'd be in. no complaints against yahoo on my part but with the time difference and possible time commitment involved in a live draft I'd be in if all that i needed to do was spend 20 min pre-ranking players... don't let me influence a dozen players that think otherwise though...
