Sports Bio

My name refers not to a portable CD player but to Ultimate Frisbee (disc, get it?), I sport I discovered a couple years ago and have enjoyed ever since. I think the maddest I've ever been over sports was the Kings loss to the Lakers, 2002 Conference Finals. I almost destroyed my television over that one. The Rams/Patriots Superbowl irked me, as well. (I post on Metafilter, unsurprisingly, as Yelling At Nothing.)

Game on!

Does anyone have a link to that old mushot of Tom Brady, the one where he looked like a total idiot?

Help msacheson & aacheson settle a dispute!

I don't think you can lump sports in there (especially with regard to american football) without considering the position of the player. I don't think there are any greater atheletes in the world than NFL cornerbacks, only because to play their position they must be able to both cover NFL wideouts and tackle NFL running backs. More than any other group of athletes, these are guys that literally could've chosen to play any professional sport.

Tiger Woods is, by all acounts, not very talkative either. In fact, a lot of people have called him arrogant and standoffish. Think he's killing the game? What we've got here is a healthy irritation at the demise of the ol' girls club. Nothing more.

USA Today ranks the Ten Hardest Things to do in Sports.

I don't see how the Tour de France wasn't number one.

Hell freezes over!

On the MVP situation: Smith returned two picks for TDs. But Jackson's were more important; they occured early in the game and gave the Bucs the short field they needed to go up 20-3 in the first place, which in turn helped force Gannon to throw nonstop into an excellent secondary (hence, the next three picks.) On those grounds, I say give the MVP to Jackson anyway (my midgame pick, BTW, was Simeon Rice.) Tampa's defense better than the Ravens... that's tougher. I think I'd say yes, on the strength of their D-line. The fact that they could get that pressure on Gannon with mostly four and five pass rushers is nuts.

Why one or two of the most impressive links, then a nice [more inside]? Doesn't clutter the front page that way.

Anyone else think the Rams might actually have a shot at the playoffs?
