Ha! Though now that you mention it, the one thing the Wings have never really had is a dominant goalie. Vernon, Osgood, Cujo & Hasek (and even Legace) have all been capable, but none have set the league on fire (at least not in a Wings uniform), and the Wings have won pretty consistently anyways for the last decade-plus. I'm sure they're looking for one even as we speak (I'm assuming Legace isn't going to become a top-five goalie. A legitimate starter, sure, but not the dominant pipesman Wings fans can hang their squid-hats on), but they've proven that they don't need one to succeed in this league, and with Luongo off the market, who else would even fit the bill? (And somewhere, a Wings fan calls in to a sports station and asks the host, "Do you think the Devils would give up Marty Brodeur for, say, Shanny and a couple of draft picks?") posted by chicobangs at 6:43 PM CDT on July 3 brodeur would look great in red and white!! oh and i believe Mr.hasek won detroit a cup! congrats to # 19 one of the top 10 of all time

heres one more weird idea hows about all 32 teams make playoffs first round the top 16 get 7 games all home , 2nd round top 16 get 5 home and 3rd and 4th round normal unless a team from under 16 gets to 3rd round then they have to play 5 away 2 home still. incentive to finish top 16. i sprayed some bee killer into a nest tonight maybe the fumes are reaping my brain ,lol

The Teams you cite are indeed "Original" NHL Members and the League added expansion teams through-out the 1920's including some of the Teams we now know as the "Original 6" with the Bruins becoming the 1st American Team. Other Teams included the Montreal Maroons, Pittsburh Pirates and the New York Americans. They reached a 10 Team league but only 6 survived by 1942. The term "Original 6" dates to the expansion that occured in 1967 long before the term "baby boomer" was coined. hey skydive tks for that, right on

It would have been a crime if that game was on OLN!!! WHY? AT LEAST THEY PICKED UP THE NHL CONTRACT AFTER ESPN LOW BALLED THE NHL AND I BELIEVE OLN'S COVERAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER !!"the only thing that i am going to fault carolina fans about is the fact that i never heard "we want the cup". THEY DONT'T HAVE THAT WORD IN THIER MIND! OR KNOW WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!! THAT'S WHY YOU DID NOT HEAR THEM SAY THAT THANK YOU CAROLINA FANS FOR SHOWING YOUR TRUE IGGNORANCE OF THE GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
