The busiest day of the NHL Calendar...: or so they say. Another season and another trading deadline has arrived. Will there actually be any blockbuster deals in the final hours this year, or will it be just another tease of meaningless swaps? Things have already started today and Colorado is first out of the gates, acquiring Tommy Salo and Chris Gratton in separate deals. Everyone's in on the deadline tracking action, including NHL.com, NHLPA.comand ESPN.com. Happy Trading!

Ducks & Flyers Under One Roof?: With the potential blockbuster merger of cable giant Comcast and global giant the Walt Disney Co., one of the factors during today's discussions has been overlooked and could provide for some interesting debate down the line: A merger would put the Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Mighty Ducks on the same company payroll...

Crazy Wife files $12M suit against Finley.: Yes, our favorite Whitesnake performer is back in the news! Actress/Crazy Person Tawny Kitaen has filed a lawsuit against her husband saying he "broke a promise to finance her life, for the rest of her life."

Among my favorite notables in the suit are that "Kitaen ... managed his house and his life ... performed God's work by helping him select his hair color, a delightful dirty blond" and that "Her celebrity rubbed off on Finley, the lawsuit says, boosting his career--and earning power."

My question is, if God instructed her to manage his house and life, who told her to twist his ears and dig her heels into him while he was driving?

NFL says no to Manning's tribute to Unitas.: In its usual No Fun League fashion, the league rejected Indy Colts QB Peyton Manning's request to honor the passing of Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas. The QB ordered and planned to wear Unitas' trademark black tops on Sunday against Miami.

The NFL's statement said that "no team other than the Baltimore Ravens will be allowed to wear a patch or armband on their uniforms" on Sunday.

Green Bay Officially Cuts Brookins.: What an absolutely strange story...does one find Brookins at fault for going overboard? To his defense, what else could be going through a player's mind when you're asked to hand over your playbook on cut day with no explanations? Does the blame lie on Brookins, or should we find the Packers at fault for not being clear when they asked for his playbook?

Too Much On Reid's Plate?!: While we can blame pretty much every participant that led to the split between Jeremiah Trotter and the Philadelphia Eagles, but one could lay the bulk of the blame on Head Coach/GM/VP/etc. Andy Reid. Andy "The GM" refused to speak with Trotter (presumably because of money) -- but if a player can't come to his coach for advice or to voice his opinion ... it looks like the Eagles front office may have some bigger issues to deal with...
