Did he not slow down because the parachute burned up? That was a horrible impact, the only comfort being that he could not have suffered.

The orginal explosion is something that is common in drag racing. It has to do with wheel spin, the timing getting out of whack, and it explodes. Since those cars don't stop well without the aid of the parachutes, I can understand why he couldn't stop. What a lot of people don't know is, the gas tank is in the front of the car. It was the first thing that hit at the end of the track. You will be missed Scott.
