For The Love of Sport: What I’m Thankful for: The Army Navy game on Saturday December 1st in Baltimore is one of the all-time greatest rivalries in sport but it is so much more than that. A Thanksgiving edition of kyrilmitch_76's weekly column.
Well put Howard, and a Happy Holidays to you and yours. There is something to be said for a game every once in a while where a heisman, national title, BCS standings and million dollar contracts are not on the line.

Well put, kyrilmitch. Army and Navy for the past several years have taken to having each player wear a unit patch on his uniform. This reinforces the connection between the academies and the rest of the men in uniform. One of the ironies is that players opposing each other on the field may be depending upon each other in a life-or-death situation on the battlefield. Imagine if you will a Marine Corps platoon leader waiting for artillery support from an Army battery, or an Army company commander calling in an air strike from Navy aircraft. It has happened before and will happen again. Army and Navy may be bitter rivals on the football field, but are teamates when it counts.
