Who would be No. 1 now?: A look back at the 2006 NFL Draft.
I don't know that I agree that Addai and Jones-Drew should go 1-2 in a revised draft. Good RBs are fairly easy to find and are overvalued in the draft; the draft focus should probably be on QB (if there's a need) and the lines. It's a silly exercise in any event, as the true measure of the 2006 draft won't really be assessable for another 2-3 years.

Cutler should not be in the Top 10. Jones-Drew, should be No. 1, if you look at the revised draft. I would put Addai at 2.

well reading the comments in that article, people can knock Young's bad stats all they want. What I see is 2004 5-11 (no VY) 2005 4-12 (no VY) 2006 0-3 (no VY) 2006 8-5 (VY) 2007 6-3 (VY) He's taken basically the same team that was 9-26 and since he's been starting they are 14-8. I just don't understand the arguments of "they win because of their defense, not because of VY"...well why weren't they winning with that defense in 2004 or 2005? Why did they start 0-3 with that defense in 2006? I still say he's my #1 overall pick. He's a winner. He was one in high school..he was one in college...and he'll be one in the Pros.

Why did they start 0-3 with that defense in 2006? because the defense in 2004 and 2005 was a revolving door? when they finally got a set of players together that practiced every week, it made a difference. i'm not ready to write off vince young yet, not even close, but they've won a few games this year in spite of him, not because of him.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a D'bacle. The Jets are 1-8 in large part because of a collapsing O line. And D'bacle is a big part of that. I would not even rate him as a first round pick right now. Nor do I think that the Jets would have taken Cutler at #4. That being said, I think you need five years to really accurately evaluate the draft.

bdaddy - by that argument the Broncos should never have let Jake Plummer and Brian Griese get away. Sure, some quarterbacks bring intangibles that allow them to lead their team to victory even when their stats aren't all that good (Jim Mcmahon comes to mind), but oftentimes the W-L record is more of a sign of the players around him (Trent Dilfer). Dunno if Cutler should be in the top 10, but he's clearly the best right now against Young and Leinart in terms of development.

I say VY. None of these players will become instant legends like Big Ben, so I guess he is the best in the peck. I had a gut feeling HOu should have picked the homeboy, and I think Charley is blamed now, even though he got what he deserved, the cremation treatment.
