Angels reach the promised land! Make World Series for first time in 42 years!: Who would have thought at the beginning of this season that Anaheim would be in the Fall Classic? Not me, that's for sure!

Yep, an aberration- but congrats, Angels! They've done what the M's couldn't do, nor the Rangers- hard to swallow that the Angels made it to the World Series this year but the 2001 116-win M's did not. *sigh* It's also interesting they won this one the same way they beat the Yanks in the clinching game; close for most of the game, then a come-from-behind run, followed by a ridiculous explosion of hit after hit after hit... that says to me the Rally Monkey does indeed have mysterious powers. :) And that the Angels have an offense that can bite suddenly and lethally, always an asset in the post-season. The problem will be, regardless of the World Series, the disappointment among Angels fans when their team does what the Mariners did this year- fail to live up to the previous year's expectations. The Angels won 24 more games this year than last; that kind of dramatic change usually results in a corresponding snap back towards the "norm", such as a hitter jumping from 20HR to 40HR in one year; the year after that, he's back to mid-20's power. But then again, maybe the Angels are the 2002 baseball equivalent of last year's Patriots- a completely improbable run to a championship that will have to last the fans some years to come (I'm sad at how poorly the Patriots have played the past few weeks, after such a hot start). I'm rooting for the Giants to make it, then pretty much be happy with either team winning.

ESPN said that the Vegas pre-season odds on the Angels were 50-1. Wish I'd put a little money down on that. [Giants, for reference, were 8-1.]

One game away from an all-California World series. Hmmm. I hope it doesn't mean we're in for the next big one.

I hope it doesn't mean we're in for the next big one. I wouldn't worry, it's not like it's an all bay area World Series.

Doesn't matter, dude. The fault goes all the way down to our southern neighbors. All the rumbling we get this time better be from those thunder sticks. And the locals complaining about the traffic jams on 101 and 280. Heh. OK. Better not jinx it anymore. Wow, this is prob. the first time I'll actually be watching a baseball game because I want to.

Yes, it's an aberration, to be sure.
