My son, now a freshman in the Smeal Business College at Penn State, says his "dream job" is to be the General Manager of either the New England Patriots or the Boston Red Sox. I wonder what he'd think about doing an internship at a job such as one of these? Hey, you have to start someplace.

When I was in high school and shortly thereafter, I worked on the Oakmont grounds crew. Although it is a stinky job it does have its perks. Over the years I got to meet several famous people but that was not my favorite part. When there was a tournement (often times we would help at other courses also) all you needed to get in was your uniform. Not only did we get in for free but when it got crowded we would simply hop over to the other side of the rope or even go from hole to hole in a golf cart. Once at a celebrety tourny I made Matt Lauer ride in the bed of a truck (I didn't recognize him or I wouldn't have made him do that). All in all I discovered that the Celebreties, especially the athletes seemed to appreciate the work we put in. In fact, more often than not it was the most well to do celebs that treated us the best.
