No gay old time in Brazil: Judge in hot water after stating in ruling that homosexuals don't belong in soccer.

Very immature, but yes, I did have a little guffaw about the possibility of a gay Brazilian goalie called Roger.

It always amuses me when close-minded weenies like Filho say that gays can play soccer, but only in their own federation, and only with others who want to play with them. Reminds me of the Clinton years, when gays in the military was such a hot topic, and some idiot idealogues actually seemed to think that there weren't already gays in the military. As if there was a big line of disappointed gays who wanted to join, and were just waiting for permission. Guess what? From professional Brazilian soccer teams to the United States military, gays are here, they're queer, and they're gonna be here for a while. You don't like homosexuality? Fine, don't engage in homosexual sex. Just don't tell somebody else that they can't, because it's not your right to dictate others' morality to them.

Rafael Cordova poses for a gay magazine and then says he sympathises with the gays in soccer. That's going a long way to show support. I wish Scarlet Johannson would sympathise a little more with my wanting to see her naked.

So this brouhaha comes from a slander suit brought by Sao Paolo midfielder Richarlyson against a director of a rival club who insinuated he was gay. ... Richarlyson?!! With a name like that, he's gotta be gay! (I keed I keed)

As someone who is, at best, a casual soccer fan, would someone please explain to me how what you do in the bedroom impacts how you play on the pitch? Unless, of course, you had a real wild night before the match. But that would apply to just about anyone who plays any kind of sports, right? Maybe Mick was right. "Women (or your partner of choice) weaken the legs!"

Gays are awesome at soccer. It's because they have abnormally strong legs and keen eyesight. It's science.

Of course, in rugby-mad New Zealand, there would be an expression of surprise that there are straights in soccer.

Just goes to show that we (ooh ess aah) are not the only sexually immature nation in the New World.( But we are definitely in a class by ourselves as far as the degree of this cultural norm among the major nations).

Weedy, I did not know that. But I guess that would be true, all that running around out there. (the strong legs) But how do you explain the eyesight? And you are also right, sickleguy. Personally, it doesn't matter to me what anyone's sexual orientation is, there are more important things to occupy my time.

You have to admit that judge had a lot of balls to say that.

But how do you explain the eyesight? Good question. Maybe I missed a stereotype somewhere, but wouldn't a gay man be as susceptible to going blind as a straight man?

You have to admit that judge had a lot of balls to say that. A bigot makes a bigoted statement that he believes will be well-received by a bigoted public. Where's the courage -- excuse me, balls -- in that?

I think it was supposed to be a pun. Either way, the comment seems sadly gelded.

But how do you explain the eyesight? Maybe it has something to do with carrots, or a third eye. I'm not sure.

But how do you explain the eyesight? Has something to do with gaydar. Very complicated to explain.

SommersEve, gaydar? I thought maybe it was because of their keen eye for fashion. l_b_b, I agree. It seems going with bigoted (or popular) opinion instead of thinking for yourself is becoming the norm. Sad. (don't mean to equate popular with bigoted tho)
