How important was last night's Clemson game to Florida State? The university president abruptly cancelled classes on Thursday and Friday. "It's obvious now that FSU has a university the football team can be proud of," writes Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi.
Sadly, fans of my alma mater (the University of North Texas) often talk about how our football program was on the same level as FSU in the '70s and criticize our school for not doing what's necessary to emulate them. And I agree with them wholeheartedly. I'd support the cancellation of an entire semester of classes at UNT if it meant a single upset win over a big-name non-conference opponent like Texas or Alabama.

I tell you, I am shocked, shocked, to hear that football is more important than academics in Tallahassee. You have to get those students out for the nationally-televised game, right? And since it started after 7:30, they needed Friday off to recover. Poor dears.
