"Underachieving in the postseason is...what makes them the Braves, kind of like how that hoochie-coochie thing is what makes Charo Charo," : says Salon's King Kaufman in making his picks for the playoffs (hint: the National League teams can't win, and the American League teams can't lose). ESPN's Jason Stark says the playoffs are wide open. CNNSI's John Donovan breaks it down. Who are your postseason picks?

Cards over the A's in the WS. I'm with the "it's wide open" camp.

I desperately want the Angels to beat the Yanks. After that, I don't care. Goddam Mets.

Yankees over Angels (5 games) A's over Twins (4 games) Braves over Giants (4 games) Cardinals over Diamondbacks (5 games) A's over Yankees (7 games) Braves over Cardinals (6 games) Braves over A's (7 games) Of course, I'd like to see the Braves beat the Twins in 7 (payback). To take the fantasy a step further... John Smoltz striking out Torii Hunter with a knuckle ball.

picks: Yankees over Angels in 4 A's over Twins in 5 Braves over Giants in 4 DBacks over Cardinals in 5 A's over Yankees in 7 Braves over DBacks in 6 A's over Braves in 6 What I want... Yankees over Angels in 4 (so I can watch the clincher in Anaheim, assuming I can find affordable tickets) Yankees over A's in 5 (so I can watch the clincher in Oakland) Yankees over Giants in 5 (ditto) Definitely would be rooting for the Giants regardless of my location, although I wouldn't mind seeing the Cards do it. I'm more worried about the As this year than I was after Game 2 last year.

The Yankees win, the Yankees win. That's right folks the Yankees win game one, and are on the road to another world series.

God, I fucking hate the Yankees. I'm rooting for anyone to beat the Yankees, to absolutely humiliate them. The ideal situation would be a 4-0 sweep of the Yanks in the ALCS followed by Jeter committing hari-kari on second base. After that, I'd just like to see the Giants get to the World Series, so Bonds stops getting that unfair "Mr. April" label. The Twins probably won't go too far, but you never know. However, I won't root for them or call them a feel-good story; lest we forget they won two world championships just a little more than a decade ago, and the A's won 1 of 3 in the same time period. The Braves have won somewhat recently, the D-Backs just last year, and the Cardinals trail only the "Bronx Satans" with 9 championships in history. That leaves the Giants (technically 5 as the NY Giants, but none in San Francisco) and the Angels as the only teams yet to taste the champagne, and long overdue for some October magic... heck, the Angels haven't ever even won a playoff series; I'm rooting for them overall, or failing that the Giants. We've seen enough of the rest.
My picks: "Al-Qaeda Nine" over the Angels in 4. A's over Twins in 4 (notwithstanding the game tonight) A's over "The Hustlin' Hitlers" in 6 Giants over Braves in 4. D-Backs over Cardinals in 5. D-Backs over Giants in 7 A's over D-Backs in 6.

Anybody but the Braves. I hate them a little more than Hal hates the Yankees. I'd like to see the Twins win.

Yankees over Angels A's over Twins Giants over Braves Cardinals over Diamondbacks A's over Twins Giants over Cardinals A's over Giants This is what I want to happen. Bonds carries the team to the Series, but the "small market" A's win the title. That would kill two birds with one stone: small market can't win and Barry chokes in the clutch.
