The Ultimate Commencement Address: Page 2's Mike Philbrick wrote a commencement speech entirely of quotes from sports movies (with footnotes to prove it.)
Looked good right up until the "Bad News Bears" reference. I don't think that counts ;-)

This is a clever speech and a hell of a lot better than most commencement talks I've heard. However it is not really about sports but movies.

I am now so fired up, I'm ready to run through walls. That is the most inspiring thing I have ever heard. Where was this guy when I graduated from high school? (OK, with the exception of Pride of the Yankees, none of those films had been made when I was graduated.) To be serious, that was a really nice job of stringing the quotes together into a coherent piece. Thanks, apoch, for posting it.

Excellent job. I heard once, from where I forget, someone say that all Shakespeare did was string a bunch of quotes together. Apropos of not much, but I always thought was funny...

It's like the commencement speaker at my high school said, "Bleed all over 'em, let em know you're there!" Now where's that Russian pussy, Drago? I'm gonna wreck that red pansy.

Clever stuff. Was nice to see the oft forgotten "Any Given Sunday" as one of the picks.
