Bill Lyon, of the Philadelphia Inquirer,: attempts to salvage the reputations of Eagles fans after Monday night's pepper spray debacle. The Washington Post's article cited a Redskins fan saying "It just gave the Eagles fans six hours to get rowdy. We showed up at 5:30, and by the time we got there, there was a sea of green taking over a section of the parking, and they were horrible.". Lyon says "Eagles fans are an easy target".
The thing that aggravates me the most is that the Wasington Post is reporting how the Eagles fans were so out of hand and continuously and indirectly blame the situation on them. However, it's been reported on several of the news stations locally and on ESPN that in fact, the scuffle started after one of the Eagles final touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, that the initial fight before the pepper spray incident took place between some dope in an Emmitt Smith jersey talking trash to one of what was left of the Redskins fans. I've had it with the preaching about the Philadelphia fans being spotlighted as an unruly crowd, when in fact, this is become an issue across the country. This was an incident started that resulted in Washington police spraying pepper in the crowd because they were unable to handle a situation in the crowd. It's about time we start acknowledging that there are crowd control problems across the country, include the unbelievably horrible incident that took place last night during the White Sox-Royals game at Comiskey..
