Hidden: Streak or no streak, Tiger Woods is simply a roaring golf success: With all these comparisons between Federer and Tiger, its interesting to see the differences in how both are being treated by the "traditionalists" in their respective sports. Federer is being revered while many are questioning the legitimacy of Tiger's streak.

While the legitimacy of Tiger's streak may be questioned, to suggest that Tiger isn't revered by the golf world is silly. People drool over his play. Additionally, Tiger himself has down-played the streak, giving deference to Nelson's twelve in a row since it came within the same calendar year. It's even mentioned in the article.

Do we need another FPP for this?

Do we need another FPP for this? I dunno, but I do note that the article didn't actually make any comparisons between Federer and Woods. It's an interesting line of discussion, antwan (albeit one that is also being discussed elsewhere); however, in general, the text of the FPP itself should stay within the boundaries of the article referenced by the link, and not editorialize or introduce a tangential discussion. That's not as nit-picky as it sounds: when people read a FPP, they're reading what's supposed to be a very brief summary of the article that's being linked to, which allows them to decide whether they want to follow the link and/or join the discussion. As a FPPer, if I want to express my personal opinion about the subject of the article or use it as a springboard to introduce a new line of thought (in this case, the Federer-Woods comparison), the place to do that is in a comment to my own FPP.

As a FPPer, if I want to express my personal opinion about the subject of the article or use it as a springboard to introduce a new line of thought... the place to do that is in a comment to my own FPP. Agreed. For example - I think midgets should be kept as pets.

Whereas I think they should be allowed to roam free... but the place for that kind of talk isn't on the front page. People get the wrong idea.

Oh JJ, no one cares about your hippie ideas for free-range midgets.

But they are so much gamier and tasty!!!

Let's get back to the subject matter, people. What's Tiger's stance on midgets? I believe Federer has a much more European, cosmopolitan outlook on the subject.

In my opinion, it is much more to the interest of the PGA to 'keep the Tiger streak alive' than it is for Tiger himself. PGA would like to use the streak, IMO, to gain viewers. Tiger has more than once commented it is not an intact streak because he lost 3 times overseas. Further when Tiger was awarded the "player of the year" award about the 5th time, he commented that it should have gone to Roger Federer who has done more in tennis than he in Golf.. Federer.... now there's a streak. Fly Piscator
