April September Fool's.: I must admit, I was stunned by the beauty shot of Simonya Popova in last week's SI. I didn't catch on to the fact that she was fake, a hoax, perpetrated by Sports Illustrated. Not fair, NOT FAIR!
Heh. I didn't find it interesting enough to read the last line, though I do recall thinking it was a very odd looking picture. What I don't get is the motivation- why do something like this in September? April I can understand, but... this is just weird.

Simonya as in S1M0NE, the movie that was recently released starring Al Pacino. I believe it is the same virtual woman. Is it synergy? Let's see, AOL Time Warner owns Sports Illustrated. And, well can you believe it, they also own New Line Cinema the production company responsible for S1M0NE. Sucks, doesn't it?

Well, except (IIRC) she doesn't look much like Simone, nor does it directly mention the ad. If it's supposed to be a crossover-conglomerate-y thing, it was a pretty pathetically sad attempt at it.

Here's the article in question. She's a simu-looker.

I read it yesterday at the local barnes and noble. It had me going up till the last line, when I realized it was a hoax. But up until that time I was completely fooled.
