Jogging...backwards?: I'm not a runner so maybe I shouldn't comment, but backwards running? This has got to be more dangerous then they say in this article. I can't imagine not landing on my back every few feet.

Its funny- they never mention Basketball players. I played Basketball in high school- nd we did numerous drills running backward. These excersices really seem like a good idea, except I wouldn't want to land flat on my ass all the time.

I would think they would at least mention you should wear some type of helmet. It's a lot harder to catch yourself falling backwards then forwards so there must be a greater risk of smacking your head on the ground.

In the course of my work (at one of my jobs), I spend a fair amount of time skiing backwards. I'm sure not doing it competitively, though. (and crashing or hitting something/someone is occasion for a Beer Fine, so we don't let it happen)

Wouldn't your calves look a little like Popeye's forearms after a while?

Wouldn't your calves look a little like Popeye's forearms after a while? What I never understood is why Popeye and Brutis both had the hots for Olive Oyl. My God that was an ugly women even for a cartoon charcter! Though I did think Shelly Duvall nailed her perfectly in the movie with Robin Williams. Now if they were chasing Betty Boop, that I could understand!

Running makes your muscles smaller and more dense, not bigger...

They have backstroke in swimming, so why not running backwards in the Olympics? But seriously, I met a guy once who walked the length of Indonesia backwards. For safety reasons, and to reduce neck strain, he rigged up two rear-view mirrors to his belt. I suspect his sanity could have been questioned, but he was famous (in Indonesia) for the allocated 15 minutes.
