New season, new kits... Liverpool's is quite bad (what's with those cuffs?), Leeds' is okay I suppose, if a tad boring, and Newcastle's does the job fine. They're all disappointingly understated and tastefull really. Where are all the terrible, ugly and downright disgusting kits now?

Liverpool's ain't half bad. Harkening back to the old winning days, I expect. A little mix of the 70s and 80s kit there. I don't care what they look like if they win. Well, maybe a little. I always thought Spurs and Chelsea had the most imaginative jerseys. But we'll see when the season starts.

Altho, my god, I could see Mr Sulu or Spock or the rest of the Star Trek crew wearing the Liverpool kit, too. "Knock a cross over, Scotty!" "I can't, Captain, I can't go any faster!" "Dr. McCoy, that last attempt was highly illogical. Our probability of scoring would have been doubled had you played a one-two with me." "Bite it, Spock! Can't you see I'm a doctor, not bloody Ronaldo?" "Uhuru, tell the ref to get his eyes checked!" "Tackle me like that again, mate, and I'll go where no man has gone before!"

Boro's away kit this year is rubbish: dull white. (Kitbag doesn't stock it, thanks to a rather silly exclusive supplier deal between the club and Errea.) I'll grab last season's variation on the classic 1970s kit (Inter Milan stripes) if it's still in stock. Anyway, I recommend TOFFS for purists: they even have a Ducla Prague away kit... What's annoying is that most clubs now change both shirts each year with impunity. At least for a while the Man Utds of this world had a rotating two-season timespan for their £40 nylon moneyspinners, but I prefer the retro shirts anyway. And the Philosophy Football ones....

I'm not terribly keen on West Brom's new kit, even though it was designed to be a throwback to the late 60s with the narrow stripes and plain sleeves. Like many other clubs, these days, the kit was chosen by fans in an online poll. The other two options were truly awful.

Aston Villa's kit has improved now that we're sponsored by Rover instead of NTL, even if we can still be confused with West Ham (cuss cuss). etagloh: Love that Philosophy Football site. I'm thinking about getting this one.
