Ovechkin is great offensively but will be a pure goal scoring winger. Crosby plays a more difficult and important position and thats why he is still my number 1. That Rangers goalie who's name is difficult for me to say or spell has been down right spectacular this even stelaing a few games for them early on. What they say about Carter rings very true, he can play in every kind of situation. I love guys like this (the flyers are full of these types Handzus, Primeau, Stevenson) he should fit right in. I haven't really got to see a lot of those guys on the west coast yet. Longboard hockey looks really really really fun.

They were chanting Henrik Lundqvist's name at MSG all night the night we were there, and he looked pretty fine. Phaneuf looks awful good too, and Labarbera, not Roenick, will be the most popular King by season's end.

Heck yeah Labarbera will be the most popular King. Look at the way he's been playing. The Kings haven't had a decent goalie since Kelly Hrudey. They've got a nice mix of veterans and younger players. Demitra and Conroy were excellent additions. Now if they can just stay healthy, as they've been unable to do, they'll make the playoffs. And once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen. The Stanley Cup in LA? Don't laugh, it could happen (hopefully before I die!).

Whoa, the longboards you're talking about have wheels? Don't you have good surf near Vancouver? Although the puck might sink. ;-)

Phaneuf deserves, at least, serious contention for the Calder -- but he won't get it because, well, he's not as flash as Ovechkin or Crosby, or as visible as Lundqvist or Cam Ward. Good defensemen, save for the odd score or solid hit, rarely are. With the minutes he's pulling and the key situations that he's playing in, he'd definitely win the Best Defensive Rookie award, if there was one.
