Paul Shirley returns. Again.: Discussed before. The difference of course is that he is now being paid to write about the fact that he isn't being paid to play basketball. Or he could write about something else I guess.

This will undoubtedly come off as sour grapes, but while he is certainly a wordsmith compared to most NBA players, I don't consider him to be a particularly good writer. His columns are mostly a vaguely connected series of run-on sentences. He seems like a good guy, though, and he'll be better than Charley Rosen by default. I wonder if he'll still be entertaining now that he's writing about the NBA "from the outside".

I appreciate a guy who doesn't take himself too seriously, unlike some of their other columnists.

Paul Shirley is the Chuck Klosterman of the Chauncey Billups set - suitable for the Bill Simmons audience. Pop culture that - right in yer hole!

I'll read it especially if he reviews chuck pahlauniak novels. I thank the internet for many things, one of which being the possibility for normal (or slightly xxl) white guys to have their chance to overwork sentences in an attempt to add sardonic wit to the annals of every career possible. i like the dude. i'm serious. I'll be waiting for him to knee sportsguy in the kidneys and take his spot.
