Hall of Fame Linesman John D'Amico dead at 67:: In a discipline populated more and more by skating security guard knuckleheads and preening attention whores, D'Amico was always a perfect mix of wisdom and brawn.
There was no one who could break up a fight like him. No one.

Well, alright, it was a big deal to me. Never mind.

no way dude. its definitely a huge loss to hockey world, and the sadness is more pronouced given the state of the league he dedicated himself to. I'm not good at these kind of formalities, so a moment of silence was my most appropriate response. i don't have any stories, or I'd tell 'em. you got any doozies?

Do basketball referees, football linesmen or baseball umpires get as much fan recognition as hockey officials? I've watched hockey for many, many years and (during the 80s/90s) I got pretty good at being able to identify almost all the referees/linesmen without seeing their name on the back. D'Amico was a fun one to watch, as was "Helmet-hair" Fraser and "Have Another Donut" Koharski, and others.
