A Whole Golota Nothing: In the first heavyweight boxing championship in Chicago in a quarter-century, Lamon Brewster scored a 53-second TKO on Andrew Golota in front of 20,000 spectators who paid as much as $9.43 a second. "Maybe it's time for me to think about leaving boxing," said Golota.
Boxing? You mean there was a boxing match? It wouldn't bother me if boxing just vanished off the face of the earth.

Apparently the match before this won was really good.

Before that on HBO was the Trinidad/Winky-Dinky-Dog snorefest. Anyone care to watch a guy move and Jab for 12 rounds while the other guy just stands there and gets a slightly swollen face. Anyone see that UFC thing on Spike though?? That was a fight.

The heavyweight division doesn't look like it's anywhere near getting its shit together. And yeah, I was expecting a better fight out of the Tito/Wright fight, but I thought the action was slightly better than that, LostInDaJungle. (And I know the whole bloodsport thing is the attraction of UFC, and that's cool, but frankly if I'm going to watch something that fight-clubby, I'd rather see two drunks at my local scrap it out.) So. When's Arturo Gotti fighting again?

My God, what has the heavyweight division become. I remember when it was THE only division. "Maybe it's time for me to think about leaving boxing," said Golota. Oh, my, please say it ain't so!!
