Wisp of regret on day playoffs would have begun: The NHL playoffs would have started Tuesday, but the labor stalemate instead has the league's players dispersed worldwide.

I say the Wings will win it all this year. Did you see them tear through the regular season? They didn't lose one game, fer Chrissakes...

MeatSaber, what are you, high? The Wings are tied for last in the Conference, fergodsake! They won't even get out of the first round. I'll bet you a WHOLE DOLLAR on it.

Sens in 6 They would pick this year to beat the Leafs.

Okay, okay, for real this time. Given these standings: Sens in 6 Sabres in 7 Lightning in 4 Devils in 7 (this depends heavily on whether they re-signed their zillions of free agents) Stars in 7 Sharks in 7 Wings in 7 Flames in 5 I can't believe I actually thought about that. I want to cry.

chico, I'll bet you a billion dollars (borrowed from Ed Belfour, of course) that the Wings win every round they play in the 2005 Stanley Cup playoffs, so there...

Yeah? Oh yeah? Well -- well... uh, well I'll double or nothing that Billion Belfour Bucks to say they'll go 0 for the rest of the season!

The only sure thing in the NHL playoffs is the Leafs will lose. Usually in the conference finals. Leaf fans and media pundits will point to all the restricted free agents the team acquired down the stretch as the reason for failure. Common... it happens EVERY year. Sigh... I really miss hockey.

Fucking Leaf haters won't even shut up when there is no hockey. Of course the Leafs will lose! So will 15 other teams! or 16 others! Or no one! Or everyone! And it's Leaves! Could no one spell in the 20s! I'm screaming!.... Uh, how 'bout them Petes?

A maple leaf, as a part of a tree, is pluralized leaves. The "Maple Leaf" as a symbol of Canada, on the other hand, is pluralized Leafs. That's what I tell people when they ask. And they do ask a lot, even this year.

I wonder if Pfizer's stock price is the result of the lockout pinch? Note to Bettman : Don't piss off the pharm lobbies.

>The "Maple Leaf" as a symbol of Canada, on the other hand, is pluralized Leafs. I think you're right. Even when the leaf is on coins and flags it's "maple leafs." (I never put that together before.)

Red Wings better watch out they don't suffer the same fate as the Canadian women did recently, Red Wings Freak.

From the above, we clearly get a final round of Devils-Sharks and all seven games go OT with 1-0 results.
