MakeADealYouD***s.com: "We the fans are at the end of our motherf*****g rope. You aren’t talking. You spend more time in front of microphones spouting off crap to inflame the situation than you do in a room trying to make a deal. Newsf****gflash! Negotiating happens in a room together, not at a press conference. We don’t want to hear form any of you d***s unless it’s to say you’ve got a deal. We don’t want to see Trevor Linden until he puts a Canucks jersey on. Keep Bill Daly locked in the f****g room like he is supposed to be. We don’t want to hear another player, NHL executive or owner on another f****g talk radio station. Underf*****gstand? Bottom line: we are the fans and we’re not coming back unless you d***s make a deal and save some semblance of a season."

(Censored to protect those working in a less-than-permissive environment....) Hockey fans: Are you at the end of your rope? Are the league and the players more interested in posturing than problem-solving? What will it take to get the season back on track?

1. Yes, depending on your definition of "rope". 2. Yes, pretty much. 3. Nothing that hasn't been hashed and re-hashed on SpoFi before. Sigh.

Good rant, good articulation of a lot of issues. The problem with it is that like just about any "We, the people" manifesto, while the author may indeed have a highly accurate finger on the pulse, he/she has almost certainly done nothing to actually enlist the practical support of "the fans" in any of these "we're gonnas" and "we're nots". Someone with real passion and a will to work might be able to organize some kind of fan action, but until someone does, the NHL/PA aren't going to listen to rants like this -- no matter how well articulated they are, no matter how on target they are. It's common sense. It's stuff that the NHL/PA knows about. If the points made in the rant were gonna move 'em, they already woulda. The only thing new is empty threats, and that's not gonna move anybody.

what Dr John said... I've already given up. fuck'em all. Even when they do come back, they're not going to solve the all-clutch all-the-time issue that has crept up.

I read the first paragraph and saw "Jager" and the whole thing lost its impact right there.

Also, five days until the World Jrs! Fuck the NHL.

What is this "hockey" you speak of? I'm mainly irritated because for once the Capitals actually have a player that has a chance to be great (hello, Mr. Ovechkin) and we DON'T GET TO SEE HIM! Ugh, being a Washington sports fan is painful.

Did anyone check out the Larionov Farewell:World vs. Russia game last night? I watched EPL highlights instead.

garf, They showed that locally the day it was played. I watched it, of course, because it was also as close to a farewell game for Stevie Y. as we're ever going to get... As for the original post, I'm spending too much time watching 12-year-olds on weekends play hockey to worry about the NHL any more. These games are fun to watch, and mean something to every kid on the ice. They're playing for the love of the game, coached by guys that love the game, and are being officiated by guys that love the game...and all their expenses are paid for by companies and parents that, surprise, love the game. The NHL owners and players need to get back to that...

I'm finding it hilarious how the networks are scrabbling for content to air instead of hockey. They're dragging cameras to every friggin' bush league you can imagine just to say they can say "LOOK! WE HAVE HOCKEY! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!" I'll stick to playing ESPN NHL 2K5... Better than the real thing.

Anybody watching the WJHC exhibition on TSN? Canada-Finland? Boy Wonder scoring on the power play to put Canada up 1-0? No? Well, you should be.

The Rangers aren’t sucking ass; Jagr isn’t underperforming. This is the only good thing about the lockout.
