Athletes in Action,: the sports arm of the Campus Crusade for Christ, is completing a 38 year run as NCAA preseason exhibition fodder after the NCAA has banned Div I teams from playing noncollegiate preseason opponents. As Jerry Tarkanian once said "they beat you up in the first half, pray for you at halftime, then beat you up in the second half."

I don't know what the Tark is talking about; I watched several Duke-AIA ass-whuppings when I was in school. And managed to have no idea it was an arm of Campus Crusade for Christ at any of them. Odd...

Tark said it 25 years ago. While it was kinda nice to see one-time BMOCs playing for meal money on the traveling teams, I like the D1-D3 matchups better. It's fun when UNC loses to the EA Sports All-Stars; but it would be even better for UNC to lose to NC Central.

Poking around among some of links in the article I went the EA Sports All-Stars site and browsed the rosters - and out of five 2003 team rosters the only name I could remember was Ed O'Bannon. Not good enough to play in the CBA (or maybe the ABA for that matter) - talk about your roundball backwaters.
