Dodger sues to stop smear campaign: A guy that once dated Dodger outfielder Jayson Werth's wife in high school is now sending letters to Werth's family and friends, alleging the ballplayer is unfaithful. The letters threatened to expose pictures and videotapes of Werth having sex with other woman -- one of whom was pregnant with his child, the lawsuit states.

"He's a deceitful, egotistical ass---- who uses his lies and professional career to sleep with young women," one letter reads, according to the lawsuit. "I've spent nearly $20,000 documenting every move this sleazeball has made."

Damn man, that's a lot of dough to spend on someone else's life. Yeah, there sure are a lot of obsessed people out there. Damn, for a fraction of that, I could write my Amazing Book...

His wife must be one amazing, er, chick to have this guy still obsessing over her. I wonder if this Root guy and Werth's wife are still in contact?

It's even creepier when almost the exact same thing weren't happening to Garry Sheffield.

How is what Garry Sheffield's wife did when she was in junior high relevant to her life now?

This is America, where Gary Sheffield's wife is free to enjoy gospel singing and watersports with R.Kelly, on videotape without being blackmailed... How much weirder are these two baseball blackmail stories going to get?? Once it goes public, where's the profit in blackmail (although I guess the one guy is expecting to get Werth's wife out of the deal??)

What is up with the number $20,000? The Sheffield blackmailer asked for that same amount. Wha? Think big! If you're going to blackmail someone because of his wife's koochy tape, ask for mo' money!

$20,000 Fed involvement?

"Since we haven't seen the tape, we can neither confirm nor deny that it is in fact Mr. Kelly," said his spokesman, Allan Mayer. "We can, however, confirm that no one is suggesting the tape depicts anything but the activities of consenting adults." Except, of course, Sheffield's wife is now 28 and the alleged interaction took place more than 10 years ago according to the same article. Meaning that she was not an adult at the time.

That depends on where you live, bill. 16 years olds ar considered adults for the purposes of consenting to sex in much of the Western world.

Not saying he could be indicted this far on, just that it's an admission that might hurt his ongoing legal battles.

Fed involvement? i think the feds investigate any case of extortion, no matter how much money is involved.
