Where are they now? Lockout edition: While the owners and the lawyers debate the NHL's losses, the players are playing in Europe. Here's a pretty good list of who's playing where. However, is it just me or is signing a contract with another employer against the spirit of the union?

once all of the players are in Europe then their union solidarity will be complete.

If it was a players' strike, then it would be against the spirit of the union. But it's an owners' lockout, so the players are supposed to shrug, say "hey, we wanted to play hockey", and do whatever they want from there.

Thanks to the parochial and soccer-obsessed nature of most of the UK press, this lock-out hasn't had a mention over here. Reading this, it looks like it's to do with owners claiming that players are being paid too much. Can anyone give me more background. Ta.

However, for some the participation in Europe will make it easier for the NHL to use scabs if it comes to that. After all, they are taking advantage of the situation. Jagr just got $2.5 million for four months to play in Russia.

There's also this page with players separated by the European teams they play for. Are there any good (English) sites for following European hockey? Something with standings and stats would be nice.
