Prime Numbers: for prime players? Why does Beckham play in number 23, and other oddities from Real Madrid, Paula Radcliffe and Hackney Marshes Sunday League Division 2. You will see shirt numbers in a different light.
So what number did Owen get?

11 - which pretty much blows the theory out of the water.

I read that Beck's picked 23 because *he* likes Michael Jordon. I think many european sportsman have an interest in American sports. In fact, I recall see Rio Ferdinand watching his brother play for England's U21 while wearing a Yankees hat :) But that may be due to ManUre's deal with the Yankees. Um, JJ, I *think* the hurdler you meantioned who fell was an American, but for the life I me I can't recall her name. The one with the ugly, ugly long fingernails.

It was Perdita Felicien. Sucked for the Russian. Rio was only wearing a Yankees hat because he thought it would go with his shirt - he wouldn't know one end of a baseball racket from the other.

All the best players wear 10. or 9. ;-) Maradona Rushie Henry Pele etc etc. I wonder what Zidane wears for France and Real. I bet it's 10.

I have always played prime numbers. I started out as 3, moved to 5 one year, and then shifted between 3 and 17 depending on my position within the team. (The more established players usually got first pick) Now I'm always 17, except when I'm 19. I only noticed the prime thing about 2 years ago. And no I'm not a prime player by any stretch...

re: the hurdler - I'd say JJ was correct even though both Felicien and Devers fell. JJ refered to a Canadian and one tipped to win the gold which applies to Felicien since she was in the final when she fell (not a big story in the States obviously, huge story in canada) and she was tipped to win it all given that she was the reigning world champ. If you need more proof it must be pointed out that 'World champion hurdler Perdita Felicien' anagrams to tripped in race, fell. Lord, how human! in any case, when JJs olympic challenge reaches the hurdles we'll see how he compares with world class talent like that.

Nice work. I wonder what he'd have to say about that Canadian lady hurdler who was tipped to win the gold in the 110m hurdles in Athens. She hit the second hurdle and went down like a sack of stones, bringing the Russian in the next lane with her. She was wearing 1313. I'm no mathematician, so I'm guessing that's not good.
