What's the wrong way for a pitcher to react to losing a game? : There are a lot, but punching the clubhouse wall would be way up there -- even if it is with your non-pitching hand.
My favorite part was Cashman's statement. I bet he counted to ten about a dozen times before he came up with that one.
I do love the Bums and I always will, but damn, this shooting themselves in the foot bizniz is getting old.

Do the Yankee have to pay this idiot's salary while he can't pitch? Seems pretty close to the Jeff Kent motorcycle incident a few spring trainings ago.

Or blowing out your knee in a game of hoops...But hey on the bright side at least he didn't throw out his back :) What the hell was Brown thinking, idiot. Sure, go ahead be pisssed, get emotional, but leave the wall alone. You will be hard pressed in history to find the victorious hand in a fist vs. wall battle. George's head must be close to exploding. They have choked an 11 game lead in what, less than 20 days and Boston is coming hard, now this. They have gone from "can't lose the East" to can they hang on?". The six games at the end of Sept. will be some must see action.

I was watching the news on this at the gym without sound, and caught some of the close captioning. There was a reference made as to whether or not Brown's contract calls for him to continue to get paid in the event of a "self-inflicted" wound. Either way, what a dumb mofo.

Weaver for Brown doesn't look like a good trade in hindsight.

Weaver for Brown doesn't look like a good trade in hindsight. i wouldn't say that. i still don't think Weaver has what it takes to pitch in NY. some guys just can't do it (like Kenny Rogers, for example).

Maybe, but the numbers sugest it's a pretty lopsided trade. Even to Yankee fans.

Cashman had no statement in that linked article. So what did he say?

Cashman had no statement in that linked article. So what did he say? Um...I'll be dipped, it changed. Here's a link to the original. From the article: "You just can't do this, there's no doubt about it. You've got to keep your emotions in check," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. "It's a major issue that we shouldn't be dealing with. It's a problem." There's also a great deal to be read if you just do a Yahoo! news search on "Kevin Brown".

Holy dumb. Especially considering how the Yankees actually appear to be sweating now with Boston charging. Cashman must be losing weight and hair on an hourly basis.
