I always thought that the hardest thing for Cuban baseball players was that they couldn't go home. Sure, the money and lifestyle are better in the States, but knowing that whomever you left behind is subject to the whims of Castro's regime is not something I could put a price on. For anyone interested in this, I reccomend The Duke of Havana by Steve Fainaru and Ray Sanchez. It covers all of the weird dealings involved with Cuban baseball while still telling a good story.
