The future of CBS SportsLine is on shaky ground, according to an article in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Is anyone going to miss sportsline? The layout is not as good as ESPN's, the writing isn't as good, their coverage of NCAA stuff is not as good... AFAICT the only thing they do better is their quite slick fantasy league stuff.

NHL coverage is respectable, but the killer app for me is the 'game stats' feature, which has an above average updating rate, excellent shot charting, and around the league updates during the regular season. If I can't NHL radio at work, sportsline in-game info is the next best thing. oh yeah, customization by team is not limited, like ESPN.

SportsLine should adopt a format similar to MyWay that presents its sports news with a lot less interface crap. I'd love to get sports info from a site that's less busy than ESPN.Com.

Sportsline is not among the first ten sites I would check for sports news. I have no idea why anyone uses the site; there's no there there. It's mostly wire service copy plus a couple of 3rd string columnists. I think ESPN.com has more decent writers covering badminton than Sportsline has decent writers total. My second and third stops after ESPN.com would be Yahoo!Sports and SI.com

You mean there's more than just SoccerNet, ESPN and FoxSportsWorld?

Okay, I almost posted this: Too bad the internet bubble burst, or they could have at least grabbed some cash with an IPO like CBS Market Watch did. Those were the days. And then I double checked and found that they did have an IPO and are currently trading at the princely sum of $1.22 Wow, were we really this numb during the bull market of the late 90's? I still can't figure out how these web sites can be viable on their own with only content and advertising to survive on. At least ESPN is essentially a franchise, so they can afford to fund their site with help from the folks at Disney.
