The Shawn Kemp comeback:: The Oklahoma Storm of the USBL have announced the signing of former six-time NBA All-Star Shawn Kemp. Those of you with keen memories may remember the Oklahoma Storm as the team that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar briefly coached.

He's gotta pay for those child support payments in some way...

From the article: “This is quite the signing coup for the Oklahoma Storm and the USBL. Shawn is a household name and will provide some excitement this season for the USBL fans,” stated USBL Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III. Sure, if excitement for you is checking the newswire to see if your best player is back in rehab. Seriously, I hope Shawn does well, I just don't see it happening. Meisenheimer? that rhymes with Wise-in-heimer!

I didn't know Kemp owned a piece of the team.

That doesn't seem like a very wise investment. Then again, I suppose kilos of coke didn't either.

The great thing about signing Kemp is he's a perfect fit for a couple promotional nights: June 20 — Celebrate with your father and the Oklahoma Storm on "Who's Your Daddy?" Day! Shawn will hand out free condoms and vouchers for paternity tests, and at halftime, Shawn Kemp's sons will face off with Shawn Kemp's daughters in a 16-on-16 hoops free-for-all! February 12 — Enjoy Groundhog Day Storm style! Shawn Kemp will exit the player's tunnel before the tip-off and if he sees a woman glaring at him and holding official papers, it's six more weeks of sweating out a paternity suit! Unfortunately, Oklahoma will not be able to work in Memorial Day or Veteran's Day, (Kemp's flag has apparently never flown at half-mast) or Palm Sunday (duh).
