6 Leicester City players arrested: on allegations of sexual assualt in Spain. players involved, more info here.
Why were Leicester City players training in Spain for an "upcoming match against Birmingham on Saturday"? Does Birmingham have some micro-climate I'm unaware of? [/missing the point entirely]

Just a bit of a treat for the players I think - training in Cartagena has got to be better than training in Leicester.

It makes me angry, Jerry. Angry and tired. On the positive side though, a team without Dickov and Scowcroft should be much easier to beat. So I say lock 'em up and throw away the key.

Dickov, Sinclair and Gillespie have been remanded in custody, which could mean they are scoffing churros for 12-18 months. Leicester play us a week Saturday, not tomorrow. Leicester have a pretty poor record on these overseas jaunts. Woman batterer and dog lover Stanley Victor Collymore got the whole team banned a couple of years ago after setting off a fire extinguisher and it was on some trip that loveable cheeky chappy Dennis Wise broke his team mates jaw. On another trip, with Newcastle to Dublin, Gillespie got laid out by Alan Shearer. Did anyone mention team spirit and bonding ? If I was a Leicester fan I would be pretty pissed off; with the position they are in I would be expecting them to be working their gonads off in training, not getting lagered up in Spain. I also wonder what all those local traders who are still owed money by Leicester following their inglorious going into administration episode think of the club paying for a glorified 18-30 piss up, while they whistle?

Update. Bit early to say really, but it looks bad for Frank Sinclair and Paul Dickov. Considering that it's going to trial, could we see a conviction here?

If the allegations are true, it sounds like they could be going down for quite a long time: breaking into somebodies room and gang-raping them. Jesus.

Silly, silly boys. So who has the worst behaved athletes, England or America?

Before we can say that, we'll have to find out if footballers are athletes.

I think the team was in Spain for the La Manga tournament. At least the MLS teams are including the Earthquakes and the Burn.

" Silly, silly boys" is part of the problem. They aren't, they're adults. Unfortunately, like most atheletes, they've probably been given free passes on lousy behaviour from school on into adulthood. Which culminates in this sort of evil.

No Bill. Leicester were in La Manga for a break. They weren't playing any games.

Wow, Leicester certainly makes Leeds look like choirboys. Which, now that I mention it, reminds me: What happened to that alleged gang-rape involving players from London teams that happened in London last year? Nice how that's all disappeared. Man. I was going to post that something about this earlier, but thought, why bother, what's new? I'd like to see this nonsense sorted out, and if it did happen, no special dispensation given to these pampered players. Just lock them away. If there's any humor in this, I think the Guardian have found it in this headline: Leicester players face long Spanish probe. btw, I didn't realize Collymore was ex-Leicester. Seems like he really still likes dogs, or dogging, that's about dogs, right? Turns out old Stan is quite a weiner himself.

Don't talk about Stan Collymore, I'm a Villa fan, I just can't take the pain.

wc2002: The case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Dogging about dogs? Er, only if you're unlucky I suppose...

Sal, okay, but that tourney is going on at the same time as this training which I doubt is coincidental. I would note too that the Earthquakes took third place!

BC: Stan used to play for Liverpool, too. Can't say I remember him getting into any trouble during that time. But then, again, I can't say I remember him at all.

I would note too that the Earthquakes took third place! yeah, but the Metros took first!

goddam, sadly the local paper didn't really give much in the way of reports so that went unnoticed here. still, the mstars are my second favorite MLSters, so cool.

And I've just heard a rumour that they've been jailed, though none of the main news agents are reporting it yet.
