[K]nowingly, illegally distributing steroids to numerous professional athletes in violation of federal law.: Greg Anderson as well as Victor Conte and James Valente, two central officials at Balco, admitted that they did indeed provide steroids to professional baseball players. The names are known by federal officials, but have been removed from affidavits and other legal documents for now.

According to admissions by Conte gave Anderson, described in the SFGate article as a regular presence in the Giants clubhouse, was given steroids to distribute to professional baseball players knowing it was illegal and presuming that Anderson knew it was illegal activity as well.

Noteworthy, another name is showing up in the trash of Balco labs: Gary Sheffield, a workout partner and good friend of Barry Bonds.
This post follows up on our previous discussion.

It's nice how the Giants let Anderson park in their special lot when he made his trips to the lockerroom. I suppose they do that for friends of ballplayers all of the time, but I bet they are regretting granting him that privledge now. This is going to continue to be a very messy affair. Anyone have any idea why Sheffield was specifically named while other lines simply state, "from a professional baseball player"?

re: Sheffield, i had heard on the radio this morning that it has something to do with the fact that he had personally signed for FedEx packages that were addressed to him.

It's just bad to have your name anywhere involved with Balco. Especially if they've got receipts for incoming mail (packages?) with your name on it.

Both Sheffield and Giambi testified in this case. As a sox fan, I can only hope their production will drastically fall off when forced to play without the help of banned supplements.

I doubt it would happen, but if that was the case I'd hope they'd get suspended. I think a year would do well to get the message across. Damn, I wish I ran the world some times.

Worse than being suspended: their records purged. statistical records: purged too. And no HOF.

I think some kind of financial penalty has to be in there. Many of these folks have a great sense of the game's history, but some just care about somebody CTC.

Good one. Never turn down an opportunity to quote Rasheed.
