SportsFilter: The Tuesday Huddle:

A few random thoughts that have come to me after reading through the sports media today:
James Dolan is reported to have told the Knicks players to emulate the Spartans during the playoffs by abstaining from sex for the 10 weeks of competition. No word on Dolan's participation.
If you lived in the Boston area from the late 1960s through the 1980s, the name Eddie Andelman might be familiar. The man that many consider the father of sports radio in Boston passed away recently at the age of 89. I was away from Boston for much of that time, but I did hear him on occasion and I remember him as unique.
Has John Tortorella set a record for the shortest duration as the head coach of a Stanley Cup finals team? Hired by Vegas on March 29 and dismissed on June 16, a total of 49 days in the position. What might management expect for performance?

I want to know if Dolan is going to try to strong arm the Knicks players into going to the UFC White House to celebrate their title.
To hobnob with his buddy who might have cost the team a sweep.
Dolan can tuck the trophy under his arm and go solo for the Quarter Pounders and fries that the tenant likes to serve to title winners without regard for the longstanding in-house world class culinary staff. It's the Dabo Swinney combo meal menu first lavishly spread out for the conquering Clemson Tiger football team back in a prior chapter of the American diminuendo.
Meanwhile, I wish I was a helicopter operator licensed to operate in the greater metro NYC area. Between the Knicks victory parade, the World Cup and the US Open golf tournament conveniently being held on Long Island starting Thursday, I could make some serious change ferrying people up and over and helping them avoid the road and rail nightmares that are sure to follow.

He was replaced by the head coach of their AHL affiliate. Apparently this was in the plans for a while now. I guess they didn't want to throw him to the wolves as the playoffs were approaching.
