Not sure what to make of reports that the Memphis Grizzlies branding and design team referred to Zach Edey as the new face of the franchise.

Somewhere in Eastern Oklahoma, former Grizz Center Bryant "Big Country" Reeves is smiling contently thinking "This...this is my legacy".

Of the top 6 taken in last night's draft, 3 are from France, including the first 2 picks, and only 2 from the college ranks.

Will Bronny fall through the draft? Or will the Lakers use their second round pick to save face for Lebron?

I love how international our US pro leagues have become (need a few more ruggers and others in the NFL).

To me, the telling comment on the NBA came from someone (perhaps at the Athletic) who said during the recent playoffs that Anthony Edwards "wants to be the next great American player".

We're well into the stage where that sort of qualifying remark has become part of the running dialogue.

I don't think anyone else wants him and yes, I see the Lakers burning a 2nd rounder on him.

My favorite scenario is the one where Boston, who picks just before the Lakers, scoops him up and fleeces the Busses out of an extra future pick or two just for shits and giggles. The resulting chess match would be pretty fascinating.

Half-tuning into the draft coverage last night, it sounds like this isn't just going to be a one-off thing either. There is apparently a large pool of talent emerging in France. This class will serve as an interesting experiment in how NBA-ready that talent actually is (Wemby doesn't count, ofc).

I'd like to think this also serves as a slight tip in the favor of sanity in the ongoing public back and forth between Mbappe/Thuram and the right-wing National Rally Party, but I have no idea if the NBA draft really registers for the public over there, especially in the middle of Euro 2024.

"When you're lucky enough to have a very, very big salary, when you are a multi-millionaire ... then I'm a little embarrassed to see these athletes ... give lessons to people who can no longer make ends meet, who no longer feel safe, who do not have the chance to live in neighborhoods overprotected by security agents," he said.

So, just shut up and dribble? Go away, sad li'l wingnut.
