RIP Eric Montross, stalwart UNC big man who helped deliver a second national championship to Dean Smith (with help from Chris Webber).

He was a Heel for life. Spent almost 20 seasons as a part of the radio crew for them

Did Montross ever go into The Timeout restaurant in Chapel Hill?

If so, that must have been a moment.

Oh I'm sure there are plenty of photos of him standing next to the giant Chris Webber time out photo on the wall of the original restaurant. Unfortunately, the restaurant got pushed up the street to a new location. I lost count how many times eating a chicken bicky from that joint woke me up at 6:00 AM with the worst heartburn. Worth it every time!

My wife is a Carolina grad from the mid '90s, so the memory of Montross's time on the court will always be with her. Some of my State friends that met Montross in real life said that he was a righteous dude. Cancer sucks, man.

Eric Montross came to the Celtics at a bad time for both him and the Celtics. He came with high hopes from the fans, but the team at the end of the Bird era was not good. I wonder how his career might have gone with a better Celtics team around him. Still, he was able to put together a decent time in the NBA. He's gone far too soon.
