Quel Horreur! Nick Johnson fails physical with Expos.: There are two options: Void the trade altogether or throw additional or different player(s) at Montreal to make up for it. (pardon moi for the babelfish translation.).

damn, got my hopes up and everything. But then again, if he can't pass a physical maybe it's better to get rid of him.

You've got a bright future, jerseygirl. Now if you can sort of smirk while talking, with your upper lip hanging over the bottom, you'll be the next Gammons. Try it and send us a picture. /apologies to worldcup for stealing his tagline

I'd also have to age about 200 years. He's like the crypt keeper in person.

More talk of failed physicals.

Just out of curiosity ... why in God's name would the M's being trading Guillen for Vizquel? I know Carlos is inconsistent at the plate, but is he that horrible in the field that Seattle would replace him with an aging slap hitter?

wfrazierjr, it's for the salsa.

fraze - that's the question that's being asked here. There has been speculation that Vizquel will bring some badly needed attitude to the clubhouse. Currently there are no M's that have that loathing of losing that can motivate other guys (settle down Sabermetrician's, this arguement is for the purists...). The only M's player last year that ever showed any emotion was Jeff Nelson. Also, it has been reported that Freddy Garcia and Carlos are drinking buddies, and by swapping Vizquel for Carlos you'd be bringing in a guy who might help Freddy and unloading a guy who might have been a bad influence on him. Not sure how true that is, but it's being said. Freddy's agent says he believes Freddy will be traded, now that the Vizquel deal is off it will be interesting to see what develops. I was not in favor of it personally, I like Carlos, but not really for any tangible reasons, both his and Vizquel's numbers are similar although Carlos is a bit brittle.

Sorry, Omar, but the best salsa resides right here. I have nothing against Vizquel personally. He's a tremendous fielder and is definitely a character guy, something I think really is in short supply on the M's roster. Still, I see Guillen as the better player at this point, and I think he has upside, where Omar is going to start sliding soon. I'd say go get Rich Aurilia, but someone has already pooh-poohed that idea.
