Some athletes, when you first get a glimpse of them, you just say to yourself, damn.

Even before you see them do anything.

Elly De La Cruz is one of those guys.

I'm a little bummed about De La Cruz. As a lifelong Reds fan and former hockey teammate of Phil Castellini, I had resigned myself to ignoring them until Phil's daddy sold the team. The family's garbage ethos and the garbage product they were putting on the field made my decision easy. Now, here comes Elly and some of the other young guys, and I find myself checking into MLB.com more than I'd like.

I don't know anything about current ownership but it's got to be better than Marge Schott. I hope?

1. I don't believe that the Castellinis have any 100+ lb. dogs defecating on the field.

2. I don't believe the Castellinis are collectors of Nazi paraphernalia, nor do they openly admit to any admiration of Hitler.

3. I've not heard of any racial slurs being publicly uttered.

So, sure, I guess there is a case for the Castellinis being "better" than Marge. However, Marge put a championship winning product on the field, so there is at least one check mark on her side of the ledger.

On Monday night when I was roaming the strip here in Vegas, wondering how I got talked into visiting this cesspool of scumbags and ding dongs, I realized that having a game end at 9:00 is brilliant for the fans. So many Golden Knights fans flooded the strip afterwards, pumped up on a big win with the night just beginning in the city.

I didn't know the ban meister was allowed to go off duty and visit places like Vegas.

Maybe he's not off duty.

What's it like on the strip when the Knights are playing the Panthers, couple minutes left in the third period and Tkachuk is on the ice?

Well, Monday was pretty much a celebration all night. Wherever we went last night, restaurants or casinos, all of the workers were wearing Golden Knights t-shirts or jerseys. It was kinda cool to see

It's not just Vegas. Even here in Reno, people are crazy for the Knights. You see license plates and stickers all over the state. I can't believe how quickly Nevada turned into a [massive] "hockey town"

That's awesome
