When Casey Martin needed a cart 20 years ago, a lot of golfers said that it would be unfair because fitness matters in their physically rigorous 72-hole tournament sport.

I am reminded of that position as so many pro golfers throw away the tradition of a 72-hole sport to take the Saudi money.

It's good that the LIV took unloveables such as Mickelson, Patrick Reed and Kevin Na, but someone should have demanded that they go further and also take the likes of Sabbatini. So that the Saudis can claim that they're actually doing the sport a public service.

My fond hope is that John Daly will join the Saudi tour and get all the sponsoring royals hooked on cigarettes, booze, gambling, and tempestuous women.

Too late on that score, beav. It was probably the ruling elite Saudis, away from the mother country, that got Daly hooked on cigarettes, booze, gambling, and tempestuous women.
