Before the upcoming NFL draft overwhelms this site, shouldn't we get a "Marauding Bears On The Loose" update from tahoemoj?

It seems like every day there's a new and bigger bear-related story coming out of the Lake Tahoe area. I keep expecting to see a headline such as:

Ursine Donner Party Eats Homeowners Out Of No Desperation Whatsoever

Miggy joins the 3000 hit club. How many other players have hit 3000 hits, 500 homeruns, won a triple crown, multiple MVPs, and a World Series? It's gotta be rarified air he's breathing up there

Funny, I was sitting on my parents' deck in Incline Village (North Lake) on Easter Sunday with my 6- and 5- year olds, and a mama bear and her cub came strolling through the yard not more than 30' away from us. My kids got excited, the bears heard them, and mama looked over her shoulder at us as they crossed the street.

I love the Tahoe bears. I used to live in Kings Beach (also North Lake) at about 7,000'. We had a family of bears who came around every garbage day looking for unlatched bear boxes or stray scraps from cans. One day the little girl across the street, maybe 6 years old, told me "the bear kissed me!" Her mom said that, indeed, a bear cub had walked onto their deck while the little girl played and had licked her face in greeting. Pretty cute until you remember that mama is never too far away.
