Some teams handle this period of the NFL calendar a bit differently.

Once the Colts found out that they were Baker Mayfield's preferred trade destination, they raced out and acquired the aging, underperforming Matt Ryan as a preventative measure.

Atlanta was so eager to make the trade that they incurred a $40+ million dead cap hit. And signed Marcus Mariota to send their fans into a state of ecstasy.

And yet, somehow, the Panthers will be DFL in the NFC South again

I'll sleep easier at night knowing Indy avoided The Baker Experience.

At this rate, Baker's going to lead the league in commercials featuring a backup QB.

If Kyler Murray continues to confound people in Arizona, the concept of drafting QB's from Oklahoma #1 overall could come to be seen as a bad thing.

A big sign of uncertainty with Mayfield's roster value was that his name didn't seem to come up in the Deshaun Watson trade talks with the Texans. Houston apparently didn't want him - perhaps they're convinced that Davis Mills has more upside. Mills looked awful at first, but made good progress.

NFL pundits aren't even calling it a hot seat any more. They're just calling it a Rhule seat.
