The Gallery of Classic Hockey Masks.: Invariably scary, these masks of NHL yesteryear reflect the gruesome nature of the sport, and the masochistic streak it takes to stare down a slapshot through a thin layer of absurdly painted plastic. My thanksgiving gift to all you crazy puckers. (via Coudal's Museum of Online Museums)

Cool site. Amazing to think that some goalies used to even play without these masks. The U of MN's goalie has a classic hockey mask painted on his new helmet. It's kinda cheesy, but it looks cool. He even has ears painted on the side. These are the only images I could find of it. one two

Yep. You're not going to beat Cheevers for the coolest/most disturbing mask of all time. Steve Shields resurrected the design when he played for the Bruins. Too bad Shields sucked, though.

I always liked Rogie Vachon's mask. I like these local landmarks on masks rather than the wild animal or team colours. >an interstellar sport. LOL.
