SportsFilter: The Friday Huddle:

It's difficult to understand what's going on because the camera stays on R1 (the runner from 1st), and the play on the ball is not shown. I assume that there was a fly ball to the infield, and with infielders lying on the ground, there was a collision. The base umpire makes what looks like an out call. Why? Was there interference by B1 (the batter runner) on the fielder attempting to make a play? Had that been the case, the umpire's first signal would have been "dead ball" -- both hands raised over his head. B1 would have been out, and R1 returned to 1st base. After a conference, the ruling is changed. B1 is called safe and awarded 1st base, now becoming R2, while R1 is awarded 2nd base. I believe the manager has been ejected, the first F-bomb would take care of that. Even if he had not been tossed, he can't be in the dugout unless he is wearing a complete uniform.
