Today I Learned that there is a road in British Columbia named Zero Avenue and it's pretty much right on the US border. For some reason, I watched a video of a guy riding his motorcycle along this short byway. It's a father's day miracle!

Lion Index will know about this.
On the northern outskirts of Charlottesville VA, there's a road known as Rio Road.
Pronounced Rye-o in the Albemarle County vernacular.
Here's how it got its name: it was originally designated as Route 10.
"The dadgum sign says R 10. You want me to call it something it ain't?"

I've heard that etymology for Rio Road, and always thought it was a little bit suspect given that 1) Rio Road happens to go right along the river, and 2) there's a town in the mountains in Virginia called Buena Vista, pronounced "byoo-nah vista". Plus, it's also signed as route 631.

There is a town in Alabama named Arab, but it is pronounced with a long A and the emphasis on the first syllable, A' rab. The story is that the town's founder wanted to name it Ahab, after one of the kings of Israel, but a county clerk with poor handwriting made the inadvertent change.
