SportsFilter: The Tuesday Huddle:
A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.
By the way, I'm not sure if everyone knew this piece of information, but it might be important going forward for any NHL predictions:
Since the foundation of the NHL (1917) one thing has remained true for every single season of its history:
If a Toronto team plays a Montreal team in the playoffs, the winner of that series wins the Stanley Cup.
Toronto Maple Leafs/St. Pats/Arenas
vs
Montreal Canadiens/Maroons
It does not matter. It has ALWAYS worked out that the winner of that series (at any point in the playoffs) wins the Stanley Cup.
1918 - Arenas beat Canadiens for Stanley Cup
1925 - Canadiens beat St. Pats in semi-finals, win Stanley Cup
1932 - Maple Leafs beat Maroons in semi-finals, win Stanley Cup
1935 - Maroons beat Maple Leafs for Stanley Cup
1944 - Canadiens beat Maple Leafs in semi-finals, win Stanley Cup

1947 - Maple Leafs beat Canadiens for Stanley Cup
1951 - Maple Leafs beat Canadiens for Stanley Cup
1959 - Canadiens beat Maple Leafs for Stanley Cup
1960 - Canadiens beat Maple Leafs for Stanley Cup

Hmmm ...
Canadiens have the best money goaltender alive, their top 2 D pairings are the best remaining, and they have no superstars they depend on just 4 solid hard working lines who focus on the entire 200 foot game. I'll throw in that they are tremendously well coached.
They remind me of the Kings teams that won cups in the past decade. And they are built to take down talented open ice teams like the Jets .. and Tampa and Colorado. Isles, Bruins, Vegas, and Carolina would be tougher matchups for them.
