1/5th of the teams in MLB are not playing this weekend because of covid19 issues.

It feels like the MLB car has blown a tire in the first lap and they are going to be trying to change it in the middle of the race without going into the pits...

Have we seen enough yet? Without a bubble, it's not gonna happen.

Since it was played outside and most of the players are positioned in a way that is far apart from each other I thought that baseball would be OK for the most part. I guess I didn't really take into consideration that there are too many times where guys are right next to each other and only about a third of them are wearing their mask correctly. Either a guy isn't wearing a mask at all or only the mouth is covered.

I think the problems are also that (1) there are a lot of people involved who are around each other every day for extended periods of time and (2) players staying at home while at home and also travelling to other cities has opened many doors to outside contact, and because of point 1, once someone gets sick, there are lots of opportunities to pass it around. Though to your point, NoMich, more proper mask usage could also make a big difference.

Is there a slang term for wearing a mask and leaving your nose exposed? I figure there must be by now. Like Gohmerting (Gomering) or something.

Maybe it's similar to the term for guys walking around at Burning Man wearing a T-shirt but no pants - shirtcocking - which as far as I know is highly frowned upon. (Because in that setting, total nudity is much more appropriate).

I think the League should have made teams police themselves from the start by having the following policies: 1. no make-up games for COVID reasons. 2. no divisions, playoff spots go to top 8 teams in each league. 3. standings determined by wins alone. 4. daily testing by MLB of teams 5. if your team has more than some number of cases of COVID (let's say 4) once the playoffs start, you forfeit your series.

I say that with my favorite team at 5-2 and having apparently successfully escaped Arizona, but no, I'm not biased.
