In the course of some genealogical research of the Loyalist Titus family in New York, we came across the name John "Silent" Titus. It turns out he was a pretty good baseball player in his time. He would have been a very distant cousin of mine, but maybe there's something in the genes that explains my love for the game.

It sounds like he had a pretty sweet mustache. How's your mustache game, Howard?

So, I guess the "T" in your username is for Titus?

Since the virus has kept me from actually going to church (Zoom meeting on Sunday), I have no reason to shave. Thus, I am sporting a full, very curly, white beard. Maybe I will keep it so I might find work as Santa Claus.

The T is indeed for Titus. My direct ancestors lived in New York, and they were evacuated as Loyalists to Nova Scotia in 1783. Silent Titus's ancestors were also in New York before the American Revolution, but chose to stay in the US. The common ancestor would probably be my 4th or 5th great grandfather.

Howard, if a Santa gig doesn't come your way, you've got good options.

Go beverage. Dos Equis or Schweppes, take your pick.

You are interesting AND refreshing, so you could embellish either brand.
