What a drag. I heard he was very ill.
I thought the Jays were well set at shortstop with Alfredo Griffin and was stunned when they traded him. Then I got to see Fernandez play and understood.

Tony was one of 'our' 1st real stars. So easy to cheer for, smooth defensively, a terrific hitter. Four different times he wore the Blue Jays uniform. I was so angry when we traded him and Fred McGriff for Carter and Alomar. Turned out okay for Toronto, and Tony returned in the '93 season to be a big part of the World Series championship that year. From everything I've ever heard, or read about him, a better man than a ballplayer. Rest in Peace.

I hate to say it, but the dude has a knack for milking the moment and jacking his base.

It was nice showmanship but his appearance made the interminable prerace even longer than normal. The race ended up getting postponed by rain after a tiny number of laps were completed.

Would have been more fitting driving backwards and to the extreme right.
