future NHL rule change

posted by kokaku at 07:26 AM on May 03, 2019

I don't think a rule change is necessary. The easy thing to do would be to put enough slack in the net that the puck would stick for a moment. If enough slack is created, there would be a natural pocket where the net meets the glass. A puck into the net would stick momentarily and then fall into the pocket. No way that all 4 officials, and in last night's case it seemed like 11 of the 12 players, could miss it.

or just make it so it doesn't matter if another player touches the puck

Kick them in the ding ding!

posted by MrFrisby at 11:13 PM on May 03, 2019

Thank fritsy! Because my ritual for this year's playoffs is to stress pound beer made only in NC, I feel like my head got kicked in the ding ding. I didn't have any of them session IPAs in the fridge like I usually do, you see.

The Carolina Hurricanes: we don't always make the playoffs, but when we do it's conference finals or beyond. This team is only the third team to make the conference finals four playoff seasons in a row (for which they make the playoffs, not calendar years in a row) since the switch to all series being best of seven (1987?). The other two being the Red Wings and the Avalanche. Of course, those two franchises made their runs in four consecutive seasons unlike this group of dingbats that are making this run in 2002, 2006, 2009, and 2019. sheesh, take your time boys

For anyone wondering about the ding ding.

Thanks for the explanation of the ding ding.

I had assumed that it was something completely different.

For anyone wondering about the ding ding.

Which is hilarious considering that every other word out of his mouth was a variation of an f-bomb
